Day 21：基本構文⑨（否定・接続詞・譲歩構文）【構文81〜95】
なぜやるか
今日は3つの章（否定構文・接続詞の構文・譲歩構文）をまとめて学びます。量が多く見えますが、1つ1つのパターンはシンプルです。
特に接続詞の構文は、長文読解で文と文のつながりを理解するために不可欠です。
本編：構文81〜95
■ 否定構文（構文81〜86）
構文81：部分否定「すべてが〜というわけではない」
not + all/every/always/both ＝「全部が〜ではない」（一部は〜だ）
- Not all students passed.（すべての学生が合格したわけではない ← 一部は不合格）
- I don’t always agree.（いつも賛成するわけではない ← 時々は反対する）
- Not both of them came.（両方が来たわけではない ← 片方は来なかった）
完全否定との違い：
– 部分否定：Not all students passed.（全員ではないが一部は受かった）
– 完全否定：No students passed. / None of the students passed.（誰も受からなかった）
構文82：二重否定「〜しないことはない」＝ 肯定
- I cannot help but laugh.（笑わずにはいられない ＝ 笑ってしまう）
- He never fails to call.（彼は電話することを決して怠らない ＝ 必ず電話する）
- There is no rule without exceptions.（例外のないルールはない ＝ どのルールにも例外がある）
構文83：hardly / scarcely / seldom / rarely「ほとんど〜ない」
準否定語 ＝ 「ない」とは言わないが、ほぼ否定の意味。

Day 6で学んだ重要ポイントの復習：
– hard（副詞）＝ 熱心に
– hardly ＝ ほとんど〜ない ← 全く別の意味！
構文84：not A but B「AではなくB」
- Not price but quality matters.（価格ではなく品質が重要だ）
- I want not money but time.（お金ではなく時間が欲しい）
not only A but also B「AだけでなくBも」：
– She is not only smart but also kind.（彼女は賢いだけでなく親切でもある）
– He speaks not only English but also French.（彼は英語だけでなくフランス語も話す）
構文85：no longer「もはや〜ない」
- He is no longer a student.（彼はもはや学生ではない）
- This rule is no longer valid.（このルールはもはや有効ではない）
構文86：the last … to 〜「最も〜しそうにない」
- He is the last person to tell a lie.（彼は嘘をつくはずのない人だ）
■ 接続詞の構文（構文87〜92）
構文87：both A and B / either A or B / neither A nor B

構文88：not only A but also B（構文84の再掲＋発展）
- Not only did he come, but he also helped us.（彼は来ただけでなく、私たちを助けてもくれた）
ポイント：not onlyが文頭に来ると、後ろが疑問文の語順になる（倒置）。
– Not only did he come… ← did + 主語 + 動詞の原形
構文89：so … that 〜 / such … that 〜「とても…なので〜」
- He is so tired that he can’t work.（彼はとても疲れているので働けない）
- It was such a good book that I read it twice.（とても良い本だったので2回読んだ）
soとsuchの違い：
– so + 形容詞/副詞 + that：so tired that, so quickly that
– such + (a/an) + 名詞 + that：such a good book that, such hard work that
構文90：so that 〜 / in order that 〜「〜するために」
- I study hard so that I can pass the exam.（試験に受かるために一生懸命勉強する）
- She spoke slowly so that everyone could understand.（みんなが理解できるようにゆっくり話した）
Day 15の構文26（in order to）の接続詞版です。
構文91：接続副詞（however / therefore / moreover 等）
接続副詞は2つの文をつなぐが、接続詞ではないので文法的には独立した文。

ポイント：接続副詞の前にはピリオドかセミコロンを置く。
– ✓ The plan failed. However, we learned a lot.
– ✓ The plan failed; however, we learned a lot.
– ✗ The plan failed, however we learned a lot. ← カンマだけではつなげない
構文92：その他の接続詞

■ 譲歩構文（構文93〜95）
構文93：while 〜 / even if 〜
- While I agree with you, I have some concerns.（あなたに賛成ではあるが、いくつか懸念がある）
- Even if it rains, I will go.（雨が降っても、行く）
whileの2つの意味：
1. 〜する間（時間）：While I was working, he called.
2. 〜だけれども（譲歩）：While I agree, I have concerns.
構文95：whether A or B「AであろうとBであろうと」
- Whether you like it or not, you must do it.（好きだろうとそうでなかろうと、やらなければならない）
- Whether it rains or shines, the event will be held.（雨だろうと晴れだろうと、イベントは開催される）
