なぜやるか

Part5の30問中、約3〜5問が前置詞/接続詞問題です。Day 7で前置詞の基本イメージ、Day 21で接続詞を学びました。今日はそれをPart5の問題形式で実践します。

前置詞/接続詞問題の解き方

ステップ1：空所の後ろを見る

これが最も重要な判断基準です。

例：
– ______ the rain, the event was held.
→ the rain（名詞句）→ 前置詞が入る → Despite（〜にもかかわらず）

• ______ it rained, the event was held.
  → it rained（主語＋動詞＝文）→ 接続詞が入る → Although（〜だけれども）

ステップ2：意味で選ぶ

前置詞か接続詞かが判断できたら、文脈に合う意味のものを選びます。

よく出る前置詞 vs 接続詞のペア

beforeやafterは前置詞にも接続詞にもなれる：
– Before the meeting → 前置詞（後ろに名詞）
– Before the meeting starts → 接続詞（後ろに文）

よく出る接続副詞（接続詞ではない！）

接続副詞は2つの文をつなぐ機能がない。 ピリオドかセミコロンが必要。
– ✓ It rained. However, we went out.
– ✗ It rained, however we went out.（← これだと文法エラー）
