なぜやるか

Part7の後半に登場する記事やレポートには、1文に3〜4種類の修飾が重なる「複雑な文」が頻出します。こうした文は、囲み記号を使って「外側から内側へ」または「内側から外側へ」順番に整理することで、確実にSVを特定できます。このLesson 15を終えると、記事・レポート形式の長文でも複雑な文を躊躇なく分解して訳せるようになります。

やり方

複雑な文の分解手順

内側から外へ（入れ子構造）:
例: the team [responsible (for managing the project)] → まず ( ) を囲む：(for managing the project)
→ 次に [ ] を囲む：[responsible (for managing the project)]

外から内へ（副詞節が長い場合）:
例: <Because the funding [approved (by the board)] was insufficient,>
→ まず < > の範囲を決める
→ 次に ( ) と [ ] を内部で囲む
