なぜやるか
「Generally speaking（一般的に言えば）」「Judging from~（〜から判断すると）」などの慣用分詞構文はPart7の読解で文章の論点を素早く把握するのに役立ちます。また「with O ~ing / Vpp」の付帯状況は、Part7のビジネスメールや報告書でよく使われる表現です。このLesson 20を終えると、慣用分詞構文の意味と with を使った付帯状況表現を正確に読み取れるようになります。
構文解説
慣用分詞構文
主節の主語と異なる場合でも慣用的に使われる分詞構文です。文全体に対するコメントや前置きとして機能します。

→ 一般的に言えば、定期的にフィードバックを受ける従業員は業績が高い傾向がある。Judging from the current trajectory, the sales team is well on track to exceed annual targets.
→ 現在の推移から判断すると、営業チームは年間目標を超える軌道に乗っている。Strictly speaking, the proposed timeline is unrealistic given the current resource allocation.
→ 厳密に言えば、現在のリソース配分を考えると、提案されたスケジュールは非現実的だ。All things considered, the project has made remarkable progress despite the logistical challenges.
→ すべてを考慮すると、物流上の困難があったにもかかわらず、プロジェクトは目覚ましい進展を遂げた。
with + O + 分詞 / 形容詞 / 前置詞句（付帯状況）
with O ~ing：OがVしている状態で（能動・継続）
with O Vpp：OがVされた状態で（受動・完了）
with O + 形容詞 / 前置詞句：Oが〜の状態で

→ 首席交渉担当者は、法務チームが会議室の外で待機している状態で交渉に臨んだ。（team が waiting = 能動）The consultant concluded the workshop with the key recommendations summarized on the final slide.
→ コンサルタントは主要な推奨事項が最終スライドに要約された状態でワークショップを締めくくった。（recommendations が summarized = 受動）The project manager reviewed the deliverables with the deadline still three days away.
→ プロジェクト管理者は締め切りまであと3日ある状態で成果物を確認した。（形容詞・前置詞句）
